The Board

The Florida Board of Respiratory Care plays an essential role in health care regulations as the board members and staff collaborate with the public, the legislature, and the allied health care associates.

The Board consists of seven members appointed by the Governor and confirmed by the Senate. Each respiratory care professional on the board must have been actively engaged in the delivery of respiratory care services in this state for at least 4 consecutive years prior to appointment. The board shall include a registered respiratory therapist, a certified respiratory therapist; and a respiratory care professional from the areas of respiratory care education, respiratory care management and supervision and homecare/subacute. Two members must be consumer members, who are residents of this state and have never been licensed as health care practitioners.
